Sustainability Tour to Copenhagen & Malmö for University Students

Example study tour

As a country Denmark has been acknowledged by the European Environment Agency as a leader in the transition to a green economy. Water energy and resource efficiency are key priorities for the country as a whole, and it's in the city of Copenhagen that your students will get to see the country's sustainability actions in practice.

Across the Øresund Bridge, the in the Swedish coastal city of Malmö,  your students will get to explore the sustainability actions of a second country. With aims for the city to run completely on renewable energy by 2030, the city provides an interesting case study for your students to learn more about how countries are tackling climate change.

Custom-made 4-day itinerary to Copenhagen & Malmö

Day 1 - Arrive in Copenhagen

StudyLink can arrange for coach transportation from the university to the airport. Alternatively, the group can meet at the airport ready for their flight to Copenhagen.

On arrival in Copenhagen, the group will be picked up by coach. They will be transferred to their accommodation where they will stay for the next three nights on a full board basis.

In the evening, the group can have free time to familiarise themselves with the local area.

Day 2 - Sustainability tour, Copenhill & Tivoli Gardens

Continental breakfast served at the hotel.

The group will be collected from their accommodation by coach, and they will have a sustainability-focussed guided tour of Copenhagen by coach.

Included in their coach tour is entrance and a guided tour of Copenhill - the artificial ski slope and recreational hiking area, built on top of a new waste management centre.

After their coach tour, the group will get to stretch their legs on a guided walking tour, in a developing region of the city, where they will learn more about social and urban sustainability.

To end the day, they will get to visit the second oldest amusement park in the world - Tivoli Gardens. Despite the multitude of exciting rides for the visitors, Tivoli is still a green and relaxing venue, committed to acting responsibly, respecting Tivoli’s visitors, employees and environment.

Day 3 - Sustainability bicycle tour of Malmö

Continental breakfast served at the hotel.

The group will be collected at their accommodation by coach, where they will cross the Øresund bridge to Malmö. The group will take part in a 3-hour cycling tour of Malmö, for an eco-friendly way of exploring the city, whilst also hearing about the city's sustainability initiatives.

Whilst in Malmö, StudyLink can pre-arrange for a meal in a local restaurant (at extra cost), with a focus on 'Turning Food Waste into Lunch'. The restaurant would advise students about minimising food waste, the situation in Sweden, and will make the group lunch from the 'catch of the day'.

The group will return to Copenhagen by train with tickets pre-arranged by StudyLink.

Day 4 - Optional activity & return to the UK

Continental breakfast served at the hotel.

Depending on the group's flight time, they may have some free time in the morning to take part in an optional additional activity or continue to explore the local area.

In the afternoon, the group will be collected by coach for their return flight back to the UK.
